Franz Josef Glacier

We were lucky again with the weather to do a day hike at the Franz Josef Glacier to the Robert Point Lookout. A pretty tough hike. We had to walk and climb through the riverbed all the time and there were really steep sections which was quite exhausting. We had to cross 3 swingbridges and a lot of creeks. This hike was really challenging for me and at some parts I thought I have to give up but I made it :-) It was definitely worth the effort because we were rewarded with absolutely stunning views over the glacier. We had lunch at the lookout and enjoyed the sun. The hike back was hard as well especially for my knees - they hurt a lot. We were both glad when we got back to the hostel after more than 7 hours hiking. The shower was even better after that and we cooked a yummi dinner as well.

At the beginning of the hike

one of the swingbridges

sweat was running...

but we were climbing and climbing...

and could finally enjoy the lookout over the glacier :-)

on the way back...

yeah it was really steep...

still smiling - even after a 7hours hike

The next day we went to the glacier again to do a walk to the bottom of the glacier:
